Our Story

For over two decades, we have been closely working with governments, companies, academia, civil society and other stakeholders in removing hurdles in the adoption of geospatial technologies through raising awareness. We facilitate thought exchange between all stakeholders to build a consensus around the significance of geospatial technologies for global sustainable development. Here is our journey in brief.

1995

Our journey started with a four-page newsletter on GIS from a rooftop in New Delhi.

1997

Our magazine GIS@Development became a crusader for GIS awareness in India.

2000

GISDevelopment.net, our online media portal, became one of the most preferred platforms for mapping professionals in the Asia-Pacific region.

2001

Started working on educating the community through conferences and professional training programs.

2005

Our conferences became the central platform for high-level discussions around policy and industry trends.

2010

Rebranded the organization from GIS Development to Geospatial Media & Communications.

2014

Started working closely with leaders in Construction, Infrastructure, Energy, Mining, Land and Water sectors.

2016

Celebrated 20 years of serving the community; Geospatial World Forum became a global thought leadership event in the industry.

2017

GeoBuiz Report became the first comprehensive geospatial industry report.

2019

Ventured into consulting projects. Renewed focus on the global development community, Location Technology and Artificial Intelligence.
