Trimble eCognition - an introduction to automated feature extraction

Keith Peterson is from the state of Vermont in the United States. He completed two Bachelor’s Degrees in Geography and German, at the University of Vermont in 2005 and later received his Master’s Degree in 2012 in Geographical Information Science & Systems from the University of Salzburg. Keith has worked in the geo-spatial sector for over 15 years as a GIS and remote sensing expert. He started his career as a GIS-specialist in Boston, U.S.A., where he supported a variety of projects ranging from wetland delineations to utility corridor planning. In 2008, he moved to Germany and began working in the international environmental monitoring business; his key responsibilities included the development of various monitoring solutions with the Trimble eCognition software - his projects focused on deforestation in Southeast Asia, satellite-based gas flare detection and change detection analyses. Keith joined Trimble in 2014 as a support engineer for the eCognition software. In addition, he lead the eCognition training program and has conducted countless training courses worldwide. In 2017, he assumed the role of Trimble eCognition Product Manager and is now responsible for the development of their leading feature extraction software.
